Winter Wonderland

For the last few days we have been warned about a snow storm that would deliver a significant amount of snow... and it came!

Connie all excited about the snow fall last evening.

This morning it was still snowing.

Some of the patio furniture is going to have rough it this winter and the pond's fountain is still splashing away. The fish are hanging in there.

I couldn't resist a dip in the hot tub to soothe my achy muscles

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day was spent with the Knight's this year and Darven and Crystal were gracious enough to host the dinner at their home (plus they are the only one's with a pool table). The dinner was wonderful, even the yams which is Darven's secret recipe from Ruth's Chris Steak house. We had a fun time watching football, playing pool, and Alexis' favorite Nintendo Wii (I gotta get one of these Wii's). Darven's parents joined us and Ursula did not as she wasn't feeling well, so, dad came by himself. It was great to introduce the beverage Pepsi to a CocaCola home.

A lot of helping hands in the Kitchen.

Hardly a pool shark, I do have the "scratch" thing down pretty good.

Gingerbread Houses

Last evening we made Gingerbread houses with Aaron, Erika, Reese and Charley. What a blast. Charley had more candy in her mouth then on the house. Reese made a wonderful house with help from her daddy. Erika was anal about her house and is probably still working on it, and as for Connie and me, ours was just a splash of all kinds of candy.

Two gum drops on the house, one in the mouth.

This is how far 35 minutes of detailed work will getcha. Check back in mid December for an update on the progress of her house.

Reese knows what she is doing (with a little help from Aaron)

My Shed is here

I can't believe I get so excited about our new shed. Maybe because I didn't have to build it, install or paint it.

A Day at Jenny and Jon's

We went to Jenny's to build a work bench for Jon in their garage.

Gifts from the past

The Knight family is well imbedded in the early history of the Church of which we are proud of, but the Sperry family (my Father's Mother's side) seems to have more family documentation, especially of the early settlement and rise of the Manti area. We are happy to be the custodians of many of these documents. Here are some of the documents and certificates from the Sperry family - priceless

Treasures from a Trunk

Remember in the movies where an old trunk is found and when opened a treasure awaits the discoverer? We have such a trunk and is filled with the treasures of William Harrison Sperry captured in his hobby of photography from the late 1800's. Many of the photos are of the Miles Harrison Sperry family which is my great great great grandfather who settled in the Manti area at the request of Brigham Young. Most of what is in the trunk are glass negatives probably more the 100 of them. (I wish I still had my dark room equipment) There are many pictures which he developed. Here are a few.
